Rob and Brooke at the Airport

• Both Vancouver-bound from Los AngelesBrooke Shields and Robert Pattinson happened to be on the same flight – and apparently they got to know each other. The two exchanged greetings while heading toward the exit in the Canadian airport's international arrivals hall. Both hadprivate cars awaiting them as they went their separate ways. But the next night, Shields had even more of a Twilight experience – she met up with her new friend and said hi to more of the cast during a gathering near their hotel.

Alex In Demand

Moonlight is history, but Alex O'Loughlin is still in demand. The actor, who garnered a huge fan base playing Moonlight's good guy vampire Mick St. John, returns to TV this week. O'Loughlin will guest star as a conflicted serial killer on CBS's Criminal Minds on Wednesday.

For O'Loughlin fans, the guest appearance is only a tease. What they really want to see is their favorite Aussie actor starring in a new weekly series. They might get their wish if CBS picks up
Three Rivers, a drama pilot starring O'Loughlin as an organ transplant surgeon.

I got a chance to speak with O'Loughlin this week. We chatted about his new projects, his love for the vampire genre, and how Mick St. John could totally kick Kate Beckinsale's ass. Click through for the conversation, plus preview images and video from the actor's appearance on
Criminal Minds.

Peter Facinelli Interview

Peter Facinelli Brags about Outlasting His Young Twilight Costars By Jenny Sundel Originally posted Tuesday April 28, 2009 11:15 AM EDT

Twilight's Peter Facinelli, who will reprise his role as the bloodsucking father figure Dr. Carlisle Cullen in the sequel New Moon, could get used to the life of a vampire – at least when it comes to the hours they keep. "I love night shoots. Everybody else is [tired] by like two, three in the morning, which is weird because I'm the old guy!" Facinelli tells PEOPLE at the Los Angeles premiere of Ghosts of Girlfriends Past on Monday night. "They should be the ones that should be like party hardy all night long," jokes the 35-year-old of his young costars including Robert Pattinson, 22, Kristen Stewart, 19, and 17-year-old Taylor Lautner. "At five in the morning I was like, 'I could go another 10 hours!' And they were like, 'Crash!' " Also up for around-the-clock action: fans, who have been camping out on the Vancouver set despite the less-than-welcoming weather. "The first [film] we were just hoping people went to see it. We knew there were diehard fans and those are the ones we're like, 'Let's make a good movie for [them],' but we didn't know the diehard fans were going to explode into the amount that they did," he says. But the father of three insists he's nothing but grateful for the fan-demonium. "I feel loved by so many fans, like I went to Disneyland the other day, and I took like 100 pictures just walking like 10 feet … you want to give back to them." Next up, Facinelli will play another kind of doctor in Nurse Jackie, a Showtime dramady debuting in June. How did he prepare to play the "quirky" character, who inappropriately grabs costar Edie Falco? "I did do a whole class on boob grabbing!" he says with a laugh. What did wife Jennie Garth think about that? He teases, "[I told her], 'You're my test subject!' "

Obama Press Conference To Disrupt Airing Of Criminal Minds

This was posted by our lovely Bianca33 on the TBL forum:
http://www.alexoloughlin.org/?p=489
In the US, President Obama has scheduled a live press conference for 8pm EST on Wednesday. We are not sure yet how that will affect the air time for this episode. The press conference is scheduled for an hour, but we don’t know if all shows will be pushed back an hour and /or if the networks will have follow up programming after the press conference itself. People planning on DVRing this show should be aware that the times may be off. We will keep you posted if we hear more.
In the meantime you can read more about the press conference and it’s affect on May Sweeps in this Washington Post article: Obama May Sweep Aside TV Schedule

Anita Blake Vampire Hunter ~ Laurells Blog

We’re mentioned in the latest issue of "TV Guide". Page 14. Look for the still from TRUE BLOOD, the show based on Charlaine Harris’, Sookie Stackehouse books. The headline is, "The Twilight Effect". There’s also another vampire series mentioned above mine that I’ve never even heard of. Does it bother me that series that I predate by a decade, or more, are above my mention? No.

Let’s face it, Twilight kicked ass as an international bestseller, by taking my genre and sanitizing it within an inch of it’s life, but her original audience was under twelve, so my level of sex and violence would have been totally inappropriate. The fact that her books have found a much wider audience range is probably what contributed to her getting more violent in the last book. When you know you aren’t traumatizing preteens, you can play a little rougher. The movie version of the book was a box office phenomena, which means that almost every media mention of fiction with vampires in it is going to be associated with that movie. Period.

Of the three series mentioned Charlaine’s books are the only ones that have film stills to put in the magazine, because her series is already finished with it’s first season. It’s done well for her, and so it gets the bigger visual, because it has a television visual to use.

They have actors tied to the second series mentioned, and the visual is the face of one of those actors. Again, a television tie-in, that I do not have yet.

There was some discussion about putting the cover of Skin Trade by my mention, but I voted with the television people. Once upon a time I was an art editor and I knew that though a lovely cover, Skin Trade, would not look as eye catching done small. But that the comic book cover of Anita would look good big, or small. So there we are in TV Guide with my name spelled right, and Anita Blake spelled right, too. It’s all good.

P.C. and Kristin Cast on Rachel Ray 4/20

With the success of the film Twilight and HBO's True Blood, it appears that vampire stories are here to stay. The latest series of books to chronicle the tales of the undead come from an unlikely pair -- mother and daughter authors! P.C. Cast, a former English teacher, explains to Rachael how the idea of collaborating with her daughter Kristin emerged as a way to make the writing more appealing to a younger generation. "I started writing by myself," she says, "but my inner '70s teenager started to speak on the page, and they were so not the right words." So she turned to her 19-year-old daughter for help and the rest is history, because now their fifth book Hunted debuting at number one on the USA TODAY best seller list!
"Fantasy is a good escape," P.C. says, explaining why she thinks their books have been so successful. "Vampires are sexy and powerful, and who doesn't want to be sexy and powerful right now? And for our young adult audience, they really identify with them because kids think that they're immortal."
Rachael shares some good news with the audience -- P.C. and Kristin's books have been optioned by Hollywood to be made into movies! The mom and daughter talk about their dream cast. "It's hard for me because I fashioned Zoey after Kristin when she was 16," P.C. says about the main role. "But I like Tom Welling, he would be so good as the hero. Miley Cyrus would do a great job too."
Kristin adds, "I think Vanessa Hudgens looks a lot like our heroine and would do a fantastic job!"

True Blood News - Evan Rachel Wood Crowned Queen

Apr 22, 2009, 06:10 PM by Michael Ausiello

Ready for some fangstastic casting news? Sources confirm to me exclusively that True Blood creator Alan Ball has tapped Evan Rachel Wood to play the pivotal role of Sophie-Anne, the vampire Queen of Louisiana! Who dat, you ask? She's a 500-year-old vampire from France who is charming, wily, ruthless and wise. She's a consummate diplomat who has (or had) many of history's most famous people on speed dial.

Short story shorter: It's a major frakkin' part, and landing Wood (whose last significant TV gig was Once and Again) is a major frakkin' coup. A True Blood insider tells me that Wood is booked for two episodes, both of which will air towards the end of the show's upcoming second season. But rest assured, if the show is renewed for a third season (and, please, it will be), Wood will be back. Again: Major frakkin' part

Eclipse Has A Director

David Slade below has most recently directed 30 Days of Night, and Hard Candy
Los Angeles, CA April 22, 2009 – Summit Entertainment announced today that David Slade has been hired to direct THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE from a screenplay written by Melissa Rosenberg. THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE, the third film in the studio’s TWILIGHT film franchise based on the Stephenie Meyer’s blockbuster book series, will be released theatrically in North America on Wednesday, June 30, 2010. The announcement was made by Erik Feig, Summit’s President of Production.

Meyer stated, “I am thrilled that David Slade will be directing ECLIPSE. He’s a visionary filmmaker who has so much to offer this franchise. From the beginning, we’ve been blessed with wonderful directorial talent for the Twilight Saga, and I’m so happy that ECLIPSE will be carrying on with that tradition.”

Feig said, “Stephenie Meyer’s ECLIPSE is a muscular, rich, vivid book and we at Summit looked long and hard for a director who could do it justice. We believe we have found that talent in David Slade, a director who has been able to create complex, visually arresting worlds. We cannot wait to see the ECLIPSE he brings to life and brings to the fans eagerly awaiting its arrival in summer of 2010.”

Filmmaker Slade came to prominence as a director for his work on 2006’s engrossing film HARD CANDY starring Academy Award® Nominated actress Ellen Page as well as directing 2007’s genre hit 30 DAYS OF NIGHT which opened to number one at the box office its first weekend of release.

In ECLIPSE, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob — knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella is confronted with the most important decision of her life.
