True Blood in particular has managed to increase its audience with nearly every episode, giving the network its most-watched show since The Sopranos. True Blood has averaged 3.8 million viewers (11.2 when you add repeats, DVR and On Demand viewing.

"Dracula" On Stage in New York

When out with the Count, drink responsibly. Or make sure he's drinking responsibly. In any case, no drinks are needed to enjoy the theatrical production of "Dracula" currently being staged by the Moose Hall Theatre Company as part of the Inwood Shakespeare Festival 2009, outdoors in Manhattan. The Inwood Shakespeare Festival (ISF) was conceived as a way to bring theatre to the greater Inwood community in the Northernmost part of Manhattan.

"Dracula" is a gothic horror tale, adapted for stage from Bram Stoker's novel by director Ted Minos. The show features Kevin Shinnick in the lead as Count Dracula. Kevin is the publisher of Scarlet The Film Magazine, showcased in a previous Horror Happenings column. See: Scarlett Monster Magazine. The actor is very pleased to return to Inwood in this role. He just finished playing a Vincent Price-ish character in "The Go Go Killers." He dedicates his performance to his late friend Robert Quarry (filmdom’s Count Yorga), his family, and the Baboos in his life.

Note that performances are free, but end this Saturday night, so see it Wednesday July 29, Thursday July 30, Friday, July 31, or Saturday, August 1. Showtime is 7:30. Presented outdoors so bring a blanket. Some scenes may not be suitable for young children. Parental discretion advised.

Vampire-Con 1 Coming to Hollywood

The First Vampire themed festival “Vampire Con” is a weekend long festival that kicks off in Hollywood, California August 14-16. Vampire culture has certainly taken off and this sounds like a great event for vampire fans to connect with other like-minded folks. There is an entire weekend of scheduled events.

The two night film festival, on Friday the 14th and Saturday the 15th of August, will be at the Beverly Cinema and will consist of feature films only. The one day convention on Sunday is where the panels, vendors, and entertainment will take place.

For more information on events, panels, and just bloody good fun visit Vampire-Con.

New BBC America Show "Being Human"

Being Human, a BBC AMERICA co-production, is a witty and extraordinary look into the lives of three twenty-somethings and their secret double-lives - as a werewolf, a vampire and a ghost. They struggle to live normal lives, despite their strange and dark secrets.

George (Russell Tovey) and Mitchell (Aidan Turner) work in anonymous drudgery as hospital porters in Bristol, England. They lead lives of quiet desperation under the burden of a terrible secret - Mitchell's a vampire and George a werewolf. Deciding to start life afresh and leave behind the dark side, they move into a house, only to find that Annie (Lenora Crichlow), the ghost of a woman killed in mysterious circumstances, haunts it. As the monster threesome deal with the challenges of their new life together, they're united in their desire to blend in with their human neighbors.

But with unwelcome intruders into their world, a threatened revolution from the vampire underworld, constant threats of exposure, and the day-to-day issues faced by young people - the only thing they may be able to rely on is each other.

Premieres Saturday July 25th at 8/9c.

Just Because It's Awesome :)

Exclusive - "Twilight" Comic Book Coming Soon

For those of you who can’t get enough Edward and Bella, EW can announce — exclusively — that Yen Press will be publishing Twilight in graphic-novel form. Though Korean artist Young Kim is creating the art, Meyer herself is deeply immersed in the project, reviewing every panel.

Take a close look at the biology-class sketch we’ve obtained (that’s an empty dialogue bubble between their heads, if you’re wondering). What’s interesting to me is that it doesn’t look simply like an artist’s rendering of Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson. In fact, the characters seem to be an amalgam of Meyer’s literary imagination and the actors’ actual looks. The description of Edward from biology class: “His dazzling face was friendly; open, a slight smile on his flawless lips. But his eyes were cautious.” And Bella: “I was ivory-skinned …. I had always been slender, but soft somehow, obviously not an athlete…” To me, this graphic-novel Bella seems much closer to me to Meyer’s book than to Stewart’s sultry portrayal. The Edward shown is closer to Pattinson, but not a real duplicate; there’s something very winning in the sketch that I don’t see in Pattinson’s all-too-perfect tousled bronze locks and piercing eyes.

What do you think? If you’d like to see more before weighing in, pick up a copy of EW magazine, which will hit newsstands on Friday, July 17 — it contains finished illustrations of Edward, Bella, and Jacob.

"Twilight" The Video Game ..Are You Ready to Play!

First, there were tote bags, pins and t-shirts. Then, both a life-sized cutout of Edward and a mini, pocket sized doll were developed for the Twilight franchise.

But the latest venture spurred by the Twilight phenomenon comes, not as a money-making scheme, but a labor of love. College senior Brandon Gardner, a Game Software Development major at Westwood College online, is creating Twilight: the video game.

Brandon is not associated with Summit or any gaming company, but is designing the game under the guise of Brainjunk Studios. He serves as both Game Director and Lead Programmer for the volunteer-based project. Before you dismiss the idea of a Twilight-themed video game, read on. Brandon’s passion is infectious; he’s dedicated to making an immersive, obsessive online-based game true to Stephenie Meyer’s vision. So true, in fact, that his plans include the involvement of Twilight, New Moon, and the unpublished fan favorite, Midnight Sun. Check out source at: Twilight Parent Examiner for complete article. Which character would you choose??? .... me I'm Team Edward :))

"Moonlight" Movie A Possibility

With the renewed interest in vampire romance sagas and the series winning a Saturn award for best DVD presentation last week, it appears there may be some momentum for a “Moonlight” movie. The series, which came just before the latest vampire craze fueled by “Twilight,” was canceled after one season on CBS. Despite a solid start in the ratings, the series never fully recovered from the writer’s strike and was let go prematurely. Now producer Harry Werksman is offering fans hope that a movie could provide some closure to the series. “Well, we were setting up in the end of our first season that there was a coming war,” Werksman told SciFi Wire. “There was the family from which Coraline came, and it was a royal bloodline of vampires that Mick had been brought into, very much unwanted on his part. I think what we were going to try and do is to have the movie encapsulate the entire second season of the coming war.”

There may be one huge hurdle for a movie to overcome–reuniting the cast. After the series was canceled, most of the regular cast moved on to other acting jobs. “You know, unfortunately, I think that everyone has kind of moved on,” Werksman acknowledged. However, a move isn’t entirely out of the question because series star Alex O’Laughlin is still interested in returning to the “Moonlight” universe. “I know I talked to Alex just a couple weeks ago, after ‘Three Rivers’ got picked up, and I was congratulating him,” he said. “He’s like, ‘When are we going to do the movie?’ I said, ‘I don’t know, man. Any time you’re ready.’”

Werksman did say that it was possible that the series could continue in other mediums, including comic books
